Canberra Wedding Photography
EVERY STORY DESERVES TO BE TOLD
OUR STYLE
Our approach to wedding photography is about capturing mood and telling a story. Every wedding has its own feeling, the particular way a room fills with noise when the doors open, the quiet before you walk down the aisle, the kind of laughter that only exists between people who've known each other through the messy and the fun. Our job is to pay attention to all of this, but beyond the moments themselves, we want the photos to feel like you; your dynamic, your humour, the way you are together. That might mean working candidly, staying back and letting moments breathe. Or it might mean slowing things down for a portrait, finding a window, a patch of light, a moment away from the crowd, and making something more considered. We move between the two depending on what the day calls for, always in service of conveying how it felt to be there and allowing you to relive your wedding for decades to come.
Coming from a filmmaking and art background our work is influenced by photographers the likes of Robert Capa, who embedded himself in the chaos of war to find the human truth inside it. Or Fan Ho, who worked with what he had in the streets of Hong Kong: fog, shadow, narrow lanes, and the people who filled them. And then there's Vivian Maier, a nanny who spent decades photographing the streets of Chicago and New York, never seeking an audience, never publishing a single frame.
Coming from this background, our style could perhaps be described as a blend of the more artistic documentary, street, and fine art photography with genuine authenticity and a driven desire to capture the everyday warmth of a moment and to authentically document both your day and who you yourself are. What you end up with is a body of work that reflects the actual feeling of the day. Honest, perhaps a little imperfect, and completely yours.
Most importantly however, we just want you to be yourselves :)
